ΙΧΘΥΣ (Ichthys The Fish Symbol in the middle of the ring), is adopted as a Christian symbol. The symbol was adopted by early Christians as a secret symbol in order to identify each other during Roman persecution of the Christians. It is now known colloquially as the "sign of the fish" or the "Jesus fish".
ΙΧΘΥΣ (ichthys), or also ΙΧΘΥϹ with a lunate sigma, is an acronym or acrostic for "Ἰησοῦς Χριστός, Θεοῦ Υἱός, Σωτήρ" , which translates into English as "Jesus Christ, Son of God, Saviour".
The Alpha and Omega refers to a passage from the bible (Revelations 22:13) which reads: "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End".
