This is a recast of the original coin from the Platrides Family Collection. This Macedonian Tetradrachm belonging to King Philip II (father of Alexander the Great), was struck in Amphipolis near the end of the Classical Period around 359 B.C and 294 B.C. The front of the coin features a naked horseman holding a Palm Branch. The Palm Branch symbolizes the Victory of King Philip II's Horse in the Olympic Games of 356 B.C. The reverse of the coin features the Laurel Wreathed Head of Zeus (King of the Olympian Gods).
►►► This SPECIFIC COIN is more commonly known as a "Coin Turn". That means that the reverse side (tails) of the coins is NOT aligned with the obverse side (heads). So Please note that for this SPECIFIC coin, the Head of Zeus is positioned upside down at 6 o'Clock when you turn the coin on its reverse side. This is how the specific coin was struck in Antiquity. So when you wear it, the front side will be the Horseman ◄◄◄
